Can Scavenger Hunt Stop #22

Elizabeth GoddardUncategorized

Thank you for joining me for the 2016 CAN Scavenger Hunt! I’m hosting the awesome Janet Bly. Let’s dive right in to learning more about her. When did you learn you wanted to be a writer? After my late husband, Stephen, graduated from seminary and was called as pastor to his first church, I wanted to search for my God-given task. That led me on a journey of trying all kinds of ministries within the church and activities out in the community, as well as taking classes and going to conferences. One of these was Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference …

Romantic Suspense: Man vs. Nature

Elizabeth GoddardUncategorized

So glad you joined me as part of Harlequin’s Romantic Suspense Event! This year I celebrated a milestone—my tenth Harlequin novel. And with that, I’ve noticed a pattern in my Love Inspired Suspense novels—I love to throw nature at my characters. With almost every story, I’ve let nature play an important part in the conflict. Even in my less suspenseful sweet romances, it’s always nature and setting that catches my interest first. With the beauty and brutality of the wilderness and the weather, the unexplored and unknown, and a thousand places to get lost, there’s no other place like Alaska, …

The Mountain Cove Genesis

Elizabeth GoddardUncategorized

A couple of years ago, maybe three, I saw a news story about a helicopter pilot searching for a dangerous man on a mountain. He saw some campers in the snow, and wrote a message on his Styrofoam cup and tossed it down to warn them. ( http://news.discovery.com/adventure/survival/coffee-cup-messages-warn-mt-rainier-hikers-of-marauding-shooter.htm) Seems like there could have been a better way to communicate, but he was responding to the sense of urgency and improvised. Of course that set me on the story path. I created many different scenarios in my head while asking the following questions: Who was the helicopter pilot? Who was the …

Trust: My Word for the Year

Elizabeth GoddardDevotional, Uncategorized

This time of year people are often creating resolutions, or revising them. I don’t plan to revisit my same old resolutions—the ones I make every year and never seem to stick with—but I DO plan to focus on looking outside of myself, to be more proactive in reaching out to others. As a writer, home schooling mom and as an introvert, my life at home is comfortable. Maybe too comfortable, you know what I mean? I need to get uncomfortable and get out to meet my neighbors and look for opportunities to help others, pray for them, lead them to …
