My name is Elizabeth and I write contemporary romantic suspense novels. Storm Warning is my 63rd novel and the first book in my brand-new Hidden Bay series set at a place near and dear to my heart. It’s near because I live in the same county as the rainforest and I can drive to the Washington coast in an hour, and it’s dear because I absolutely love the Olympic Peninsula and the rocky shores of Washington. I never thought I’d get to see this amazing, beautiful place, but now I live close. I’ve wanted to set a series here for a long time! You can learn more about me and my books here on my website (don’t you love the live crashing waves on the home page?) and follow me on Facebook, Twitter or X.com, Instagram and more! (The little icons at the top corner will take you there).

As you might have gathered from my website, I use stunning settings as the backdrops to my action-adventure romantic suspense stories. Here’s the blurb for Storm Warning:

Haunted by a half-forgotten past, former army photographer Remi Grant is working at an isolated storm-watching lodge on the rocky Washington coast when she STORM-WARNING-compressedreceives a mysterious puzzle piece. The piece may be the catalyst to unlock a disturbing incident she struggles to remember–the event that sent her into hiding. But with heavy storms rolling in, she must focus on the present, not get caught up in the past.

When a mysterious man at the lodge saves her life–more than once–Remi becomes suspicious and confronts him. After a catastrophic event in his own life, formermilitary pilot Hawk Beckett is trying to get some perspective at the suggestion of his former commanding officer. Faced with the fiercest storm to hit the coast in a decade, Remi and Hawk are forced into survival mode.

While researching for Storm Warning, I read stories of those who suffered from amnesia and learned the many causes, but I also learned that, despite what many people think, scientists know so very little about the brain and the mind. So I ask the question:

Have you ever been haunted by what you can’t remember?

Did you know we can’t always trust our memories? Have you ever been absolutely certain something happened one way—only to later discover you were wrong? That’s because our brains tend to fill in the gaps, reshaping reality without our even realizing it. Take eyewitnesses to a car accident. Two people can witness the same event and remember it completely differently. Memory isn’t a perfect recording—it’s fragile, flawed, and surprisingly fluid. That’s a little unsettling, isn’t it?

Now imagine waking up in a hospital with no memory of why you’re there. In Storm Warning, my heroine wakes to find five days of her life missing. She doesn’t know what happened—but something inside her warns she’s in danger. When she flees the hospital, she quickly realizes someone is following her. Someone who doesn’t want her to remember. Seeking refuge, she finds her way to a secluded lodge on the Washington coast. But even there, she doesn’t know who to trust… including herself. Could she have done something terrible? Something unforgivable? Her own mind has become the most unreliable witness.

Then someone tries to kill her—and a cryptic message warns: remember before it’s too late. What she can’t remember is stalking her. To survive, she’ll have to face the fiercest storm to hit the coast in a decade—and the one raging inside her. Only faith and truth can cut through the fog of false memories.

I’ve always loved amnesia stories. I think I’ve written three so far! The psychology, psychiatry, and neurology behind how our minds and brains work is fascinating to me. Scientists even classify those as separate fields—the brain and the mind—each with its own mysteries.
