Hello Friends, I want to wish you a Happy New Year! I hope my post finds you enjoying your day. Maybe you’re going to catch some rest after a chaotic Christmas, or if you’re like me, you’re going to work on a fast approaching book deadline. I hope that no matter what you’re doing, you’ll find time to rest and enjoy your family. I’m putting a chicken in the crock pot and will be making the traditional New Year’s Day sides of cabbage and black-eyed peas to go with it. Now on to business. Congratulations to Joy who won …
Truly Yours Digital Editions Sweet Romances
I was sad to hear that Harlequin was closing the Heartsong Presents line this year. For more than a decade Barbour Books published these sweet romances and distributed them through the Heartsong Presents Book Club, and that’s where I got my break into the publishing world. Now the Heartsong Presents are available through Truly Yours Digital Editions and priced at $.99! SEASONS OF LOVE, set on a cranberry farm, was my first published novel. It was repackaged into a 3-in-1 romance collection called CRANBERRY HEARTS, along with titles from Lena Nelson Dooley and Lisa Harris. …
7 Ways to Enjoy Christmas Shopping on a Low Budget
This year we don’t have the funds to go crazy shopping for Christmas presents. Yes, I’m admitting that we have gone overboard before and many times! Maybe you’ve already decided that the Christmas chaos isn’t for you. After all, Christmas shouldn’t be about materialism but our focus should be on the reason for the season—Christ, the Lord. But that’s part of why we give to begin with, right? Giving is a way to show love and, if we do it right, to share Christ. But is it necessary to get caught up in the shopping madness? Yesterday, I wanted to …

Contest Winners and eBook Sale
I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving. We usually also enjoy going to see a movie. This year I wasn’t able to make it but my awesome sister-in-law took my kids to see BIG HERO 6. Since I missed it I can’t write a movie review, but maybe I can talk my son into it. The kids enjoyed the movie. One of my sons said what he enjoyed most about the movie was that it contained no romance. Really? What do you think about that? His mom writes romance and he doesn’t want to see it in movies. …
Heirloom Recipes—Corn Bread Dressing
I’ll be heading to my parents’ home tomorrow to help prepare for the Thanksgiving feast. This is the only time of year that I eat many of the dishes that will be served. Turkey is one of those. I only eat turkey over the holidays. That makes it especially yummy. But I’ve been thinking about the recipes. In my lifetime, the cooks in my family have never veered from the menu for Thanksgiving. Not only that, but the recipes are the same ones my grandmother used for decades. At the grocery story this week, I talked to the cashier about …

Love One Another
The Bible verse on back of the book cover for LOVE IN THE WIND says “Love one another.” – John 15: Maddie and her sailing crew are training for a big sailboat race. One that could take them places—bigger regional and national races. They have to work together so well they are like a well-oiled machine—to use the cliché. They don’t have to think about what they’re doing. On the sailboat, they respond and react to everything as one. As one. In unity. What does that make you think of? What the body of Christ should look like? Jesus prayed …
Out of the Writing. . .
. . .today, came a spontaneous devotional. Who knows, maybe I will be more spontaneous in the future! I usually don’t get super spiritual in my Love Inspired Suspense books. I write with a Christian worldview, sure, and sometimes the characters’ spiritual struggles are palpable, other times not so much. But in this story (the second Mountain Cove book), I could feel my character, Heidi, crying out to God. And maybe. . . just maybe that was ME crying out to God. Crying out to God from the deepest part of your heart is good. He wants that. …
